Why deals go quiet (and what to do)

Written by Ami

Co-managed deals rarely fall apart.

They go quiet.

Why this happens

After a good conversation, it can feel like everything is aligned.

Then… nothing.

This is usually not rejection.

It’s internal processing.

The IT director is thinking about:

  • Risk to their role

  • Internal perception

  • How to explain this to the board

And the board is considering:

  • Risk

  • Structure

  • Long-term impact

What most MSPs do wrong

They send more information.

More detail.

More technical explanation.

That doesn’t help.

What to do instead

Reduce uncertainty.

Focus on:

  • Structure

  • Boundaries

  • Governance

  • Next steps

Give them something that helps them think, not something that overwhelms them.

Keep it moving

Don’t leave the next step open.

Suggest something specific:

  • A follow-up meeting

  • A self-assessment

  • A responsibility agreement review

The simple rule

Silence doesn’t mean no.

It means they’re working it through.

Your job is to make the next step feel safe.
